UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF LIFE || PHILOSOPHY OF SANT KABIRDAS

 Before getting into it, let's recall something, Kabirdas was famous for, i.e his poetry or The Dohas. The most common Doha right now coming to mind is;

ऐसी वाणी बोलिए मन का आप खोये ।

औरन को शीतल करे, आपहुं शीतल होए ।

Kabirdas was having a deep sense of understanding, of what life really is, what's the purpose of our life, and what's the meaning behind our existence. His philosophy was quite clear-cut and simple. He, in a subtle way, described the whole aspect of life, that completely revolves around truth, divinity, and spirituality. His poetry is a complete reflection of his philosophy for life.

Hindu - Muslim unity.

Kabir was raised in a Muslim family but the teachings and ideologies of Kabirdas tag him beyond any religion. He was a disciple of Guru/Swami Ramananda. Kabir Das was the first Indian saint who coordinated Hinduism and Islam by showing a common universal path. Kabir preached impartially and hence is embraced and accepted by all religions. He always favored following the religion of love and unity and condemn the religious practices of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, etc. He promoted the idea of ''The true religion of heart and soul''. Kabir was against the hypocrisy being served by people in the name of religion.

Kabirdas and Spirituality.

Kabirdas always supported the One God concept. The whole philosophy of Kabirdas consists of the union of the ''Jivatama'' and the ''Paramatma''. Jivatama is a term given for an individual soul and Paramatma for the Supreme soul. According to him, the ultimate goal of human life is divinity and that divinity can only be achieved when humans rise above hate, lies, and envy, and only then the whole purpose of life can be fulfilled.

Kabirdas never supported idol worship. He always objected the ritualistic and ascetic methods as a means of salvation. He believed that God is omnipresent and omnipotent.

मोको कहाँ ढूंढें बन्दे, मैं तो तेरे पास में ।

ना मंदिर में, ना मस्जिद में, ना काबे कैलाश में ॥

Kabirdas and Social Evils.

Kabirdas neither supported idol worship nor favored the temple and mosque system. He criticized the sacrifice of animals in the name of religious ceremonies. According to him, sacrificing animals in the name of God is an unpardonable sin. He was against false rituals and superstitions of both Hindu and Muslim religions, which have no relevance with the enrichment of the human soul. He strongly condemned the caste system. His poetries were full of satire and hence he succeeded in denouncing the fake religious gurus of both Hindu and Muslim communities and won the heart of people of both religions.

Result.

The writings of Kabir were far beyond the simple level of understanding. His two lines can be broken down at different levels with different aspects and different meanings and that was the beauty of his writings. Though seems simple, but, at a philosophical level, you can't find anything deeper than that and maybe that's the reason Kabir was able to revolutionize the stuff.

Now ending the Kabir's philosophy with his most famous and the most influential doha, which literally had a great impact on my life as well;

बुरा जो देखन मैं चला, बुरा न मिलिया कोय ।
जो दिल खोजा आपना, मुझसे बुरा न कोय ।।
